Acoustic music seems to have a very special place in the South African music scene, with a lot of our popular artists adopting acoustic styling into their music as seen in the tremendous success of Matthew Mole’s debut album. It also always seem to go hand-in-hand with the ever present legacy of folk music in South Africa, and why the Folk ‘n Acoustic Festival is able to enter into its eight edition in August.
The festival has a long-standing legacy of showcasing the very best of South African acoustic and folk music, and this year is no different as David Kramer, Valiant Swart, MacStanley, Tailor and many more grace the intimate and cosey stage of the Baxter Theatre for two days of musical wonder.
“Over the last 7 Folk n Acoustic events we have showcased 118 artists and bands, involving approximately 150 musicians. For this next concert we have decided to not repeat any of the artists from the past 7 concerts. We want to keep it fresh! We are honoured to have David Kramer on the line up. We are also excited about having new talented artists like Fruit Vendor and Chris Werge sharing a stage with legends like Valiant Swart, Tony Cedras and Roger Lucey.” Gavin Minter, Real Wired Music
