Winter is a season lamented for its dreary weather, biting cold and torrential rain. It is not what one would call the ideal weather for music events, especially since there is that moment of disconnect between the weather outside the venue, and the weather inside. One could easily go from sweltering heat to potential hypothermia by simply leaving a venue, but that doesn’t stop promoters from organising line-ups that are capable of inciting us to briefly endure the biting cold of winter before finding refuge in the warm embrace of music.
This is precisely what the organizers of JBAY Winter Music Festival have done with the festival this year. 2014 saw the festival establishing itself as one of the premier sporting and music event in South Africa, and 2015 sees it buildin on that reputation. This year the festival shall be boasting a tremendous line-up over its 11 day period from 8 to 19July. The Jolly Dolphin shall play host to some of South Africa’s best artists as Jack Parow, Matthew Mole, Shortstraw, Desmond and the Tutus, Taxi Violence, iScream & the Chocolate Stix, The Plastics, Grassy Spark, 7th Son, Kings Down South, PHFAT, Grimehouse and The Coast take to the stage. There shall also be a special directors spreeing by Jon Savage of his recent film Stone Col Jane Austen – which is a must see.
Now, a few of you may be experincing a case of FOMO with the festival just around the corner. What if I told you that you can win one of two passes to the festivals? All you have to do is comment with which artist you are the most excited to see, and you could win yourself a full two week pass to the festival.
Winners shall be announced on Wednesday 8 July at noon.
